Fallout: Louisville

Overseer Overthrown

Things heat up in the vault and the team faces down the overseer.

Going Home

The team receives a plea for help from Amata and returns to the vault.

I'm here to see a man about a dish

The team meets with Tree Dog and agrees to travel to the science museum to recover a satelight dish.

Big Bada Boom

The game picked up in the bar where we left off. The group decided that they needed to disarm the bomb at the heart of Megaton (if they could) before they left town. Vic and Bytor went to see Cromwell to distract him while Ray worked on the bomb.

Vic and Bytor approach Cromwell, who was more than happy to preach to them. The three enter the small bomb side chapel. Knelling at the alter, Bytor notices a small gold statue in the shape of a nuke. Vic distracted Cromwell while Bytor helped himself to the small idol.

Mean while, outside at the bomb, Ray was able to remove the cover plate from the bomb and disarm it while Scott cheered from the sidelines.

The team regroups at the bar, where Ray shares his success with everyone. And while Scott and Vic sat at the bar for some grub, the rest of the team headed to Craterside supply.

At Createrside, the guys met Moira Brown who seems very excited to met the “vaulties”. Moria offers Ray a job doing research for her book “The Wasteland Survival Guild.” Ray considers the offer but is non-committal. Ray sold Moria some of the bomb parts.

Bytor tries to pawn the stolen statue and when Ray discovers what happened, he insisted that the statue be returned. On the way to return the statue, Ray is approached by Mike Lucas. Mike is the son of the late sheriff. Mike explains that his father set aside a modest home in Megaton for whomever disabled the bomb. Mike gives the keys to Ray and takes him on a tour of it. Mike tells Ray that Moira can help with the decorations.

Ray and Bytor return to the bomb side chapel and return the statue without incident.

Back at the bar, the team finally meets up with Moriarty. Moriarty offers to sell Scott the information about his father Henry. When the team hesitates on the price, Moriarty offers a “simple” job to the team in exchange for the information. Deciding that he’d rather not beat up a junkie for Moriarty’s drugs and caps, Ray hands over the caps to Moriarty. Moriarty tells Scott that his dad wanted an introduction to meet Three Dog. Moriarty tells the team they can find Three Dog down town at the Galaxy News Radio office.

While Scott wanted to leave immediately, the team spent the night in their new house and set off for downtown early the next morning.

As the team approached downtown, Scott and Dan started seeing GNR graffiti that pointed them towards the Galaxy News Radio offices. Nearing the office, the team met a woman wearing power armor and carrying advanced laser weapons. The woman introduced herself as Sentinel Lyons of the Brotherhood of Steel. She explained that the Brotherhood was currently fighting a Lurker in the area and that they group needed to avoid the GNR offices for the time being.

The group offered to help and advanced on the Lurker. The Lurker turned out to be a huge creature the size of a small house made from what looked like junk and rubble.

A few of the Brotherhood were injured in the fight, but the lurker was ultimately dropped by an amazing shot from Dan.After shooting one of the brotherhood.

Sentinel Lyons lead the team into the GNR office and to the broadcast booth were Three Dog was currently working.

We stopped here.

On the Outside

Amata gave the key to the exit door to Mr. Barker; who then went over to the panel, started the door opening and disabled the “close” button on the panel.

Amata told Scott that he needed to leave before her Dad found him, but the Overseer stepped into the doorway with two guards before the guys could react.

Vic moved to Amata and pointed his crossbow at her head. He demanded that the Overseer back off “or else”. Dan drew is shotgun and pointed it at one of the guards. Scott ran over to stand between Amata and Vic.

The Overseer sent the guards to stop everyone. The guards, armed with clubs, moved in. Scott slipped out the Vault Door and Bytor moved to the door to follow. Dan and Vic wasted the two guards and then shot the Overseer. Hearing Amata cry out for her father, Scott returned to the Vault and moved to bind the Overseer’s wounds to prevent him from dying.

With no one stop them, some of the guys suited up in the environmental suits found in the exit room and left the vault.

Outside, they found a desolate landscape dotted with dead trees and destroyed homes. Checking their pipboy’s they quickly realized that the background radiation levels were safe. Scott decided to keep his suit on out of a abundance of caution.

While the guys searched the area, Dan heard music off in the distance and realized it was coming closer. The source was soon evident when a robot floating by. The robot was playing a recording from a man named John Eden who claimed to be the current President of the United States of America and the leader of the Enclave. Eden claimed the Enclave is working to restore America to it’s former glory.

Bytor realized that his pipboy picked up a new radio station (Galaxy Radio), but when they turned in the station, all they heard was music.

In the distance, Megaton could be seen and the guys walked straight to it. Carefully approaching the town, they met a man begging for water and a robot guard named “Deputy Weld”. Entering the town, Mr. Barker realized that Megaton was build in the crater of an unexploded Nuclear Bomb. Scanning the town, the guys saw several stores including “Craterside Supply” and “Moriarty’s Bar”. While deciding where to go, the group was approached by the local sheriff, a man named Lucas Simms. Sheriff Simms had information about Scott’s dad and offered to tell them if they agreed to defuse the bomb at the center of Megaton. Mr. Barker begrudgingly accepted the task and Simms told Scott to talk to the bartender at Moriarty’s.

Inside Moriarty’s, the guys met the bartender; a ghoul named Gob. Bytor & Vic enjoyed a nice steak. Scott stood in the doorway and Mr. Barker and Vic sat at the bar. Gob told the guys that he’d seen Henry. Henry stopped in last night to talk to Moriarty. They guys would need to speak to Moriarty directly if they wanted information.

As the guys turned to leave, a well-dressed man at the end of the bar caught their attention. Mr. Burke offered Vic 100 caps and a free room in Tenpenny Tower if he installed a “device” in the nuclear bomb at the center of town. Vic agreed and took the package.

On the advice of Sheriff Simms, the guys sought out the town’s dealer and chief mechanic at the water treatment plant, a man named Leo Stahl. Leo first tried to get the guys to buy drugs, but when he realized all they wanted were his tools, he pointed them to the water treatment plant and told them to look out for the wildlife.

The crew went to the water treatment plant, just outside of town. They found the tools without issue but were attacked by three mutant dogs on the way out. The dogs were dispatched without issue and the team returned to Megaton.

Back at Megaton, Vic told the team about Burke and Mr. Barker realized the “device” was a remote detonator. The group found Sheriff Simms to tell him of Mr. Burke’s plans. But as soon as Mr. Barker could explain, the Sheriff grabbed his shotgun and made a beeline for Moriarty’s.

Mr. Barker and Scott decided to go disarm the bomb, while Vic, Bytor and Dan followed the Sheriff. Simms entered the bar, racked his shot gun, pointed it at Burke and demanded that Burke come with him. Burke drew his own pistol and the fight was on.

Simms had the drop on Burke but wanted him alive to find out what was going on. Burke killed Simms with a single deadly shot before the Sheriff could react. Hearing the shots, Scott and Mr. Barker started moving back to the bar. Vic, Dan and Bytor opened fire on Burke. An innocent bar patron was shot, but Burke was no match for the three and dropped after a few rounds of gun fire. Scott was able to save the bar patron, but unfortunately Sheriff Simms was dead.

This is were we stopped.

Welcome to the Vault

It’s Scott’s 10th Birthday! Several people were gathered in the mess hall of Vault 101 waiting to celebrate. When Scott entered with his dad, Henry, the Overseer immediately approached Scott and gave him is shiny new Pipboy. After a brief overview of how it worked, the Overseer left the party.

As Scott walked around the hall and was greeted with birthday wishes, the sweet old lunch lady approached him and gave him a box containing one sweet roll as a present.

Before Scott could say anything, crotchety old Mr. Barker came over and put his thumb in the sweet roll so he could “have a taste”.

Jonas interrupted the scene when he announced he’s repaired the food bot and the cake was ready to be cut. However, when Jonas activated the robot, it went berserk and destroyed the cake.

Realizing that he wouldn’t get any cake, Butch, Paul Jr and Wally (collectively know as the Tunnel Snakes), approached Scott and swiped the sweet roll out of his hands. Dan, Vic and Bytor all moved up to intercede on Scott’s behalf. But before they could stop him, Butch shoved the whole roll into his mouth. Incensed, Dan punched him but didn’t really hurt him. Scott started crying, asked everyone to stop fighting and moved away. Vic moved behind Paul Jr and Wally and pulled his knife without anyone noticing.

When Wally moved to jump Dan, Vic knifed him in the back. Paul Jr pulled a knife and took a swing at Dan, but missed. Dan tried to grapple Butch but ended up getting kicked in the stomach. Scott tried to grab the knife from Paul Jr to end the fight but ended up cutting his hand. Bytor looked for an opening to push down Butch but ended up slipping in cake. Out of nowhere, the food robot stabbed at Butch, but missed. Mr. Barker had jerry-rigged the robot and sent him into attack. Thinking quickly, Scott was able to stop Wally’s bleed (and probably saved his life).

Seeing the look on his father’s face, Paul Jr dropped his knife and backed away just as Paul Hammon Sr and a few security men stopped the fight.

In the end: Vic, Mr Barker, Butch and Paul Jr were lead off to the brig while Wally was taken to the medical center.

Feeling horrible about how his son’s birthday party was turning out, Henry took Scott, Dan and Bytor down into the works for a tour, some shooting lessons and a quick tutorial on how to repair their weapons. Scott was a natural shot.

That night after everything had quieted down, Scott went to the brig to see Butch and forgive him for ruining his birthday. Butch was less than polite to the boy.

Around 3am that night, Scott was woken by Amata. Apparently, Scott’s dad had left the vault and the Overseer had ordered a lock down of the facility and sent out security to make sure no one else leaves. Scott and Amata went to the brig to release Vic (and Mr. Barker) and were met by Bytor and Dan along the way. Amata left the group to distract her dad and whole group was reunited in security. Security was empty. Butch and Paul Jr were gone.

After raiding the open weapons lockers, the group decided to head back to Scott’s quarters to look for clues. Along the way, they were confronted by a swarm of Rad-Roaches and one of the security men, Kindle. While Kindle fought the Rad-Roaches, the group slipped into Scott’s quarters and discovered that Henry’s keys were missing. Dan found a Science Snow Globe.

Leaving the quarters, Kindle’s body was found laying in the hallway. In the distance Mr. Barker could hear Butch calling out attack orders to his gang.

The group headed directly to Henry’s workshop in the works. Inside the workshop they found Jonas’ body. He’d been beaten to death. A search of Jonas revealed a note from Henry. The note read,

“My son, I’m sorry I had to leave like this. But I need to finish what your mom and I started. Please don’t try to follow me. Stay in the safety of the vault. -Love Dad.”

Grabbing a few available supplies, the group went to the exit room and found Amata crying in the corner.

That’s were we stopped.
